Does Anybody Remember Laughter - Singlecut Beersmiths
I've been able to visit Singlecut Beersmiths only once. It's not something I've proud of but definitely something I'd love to correct in the not so distant future. Open since 2012, I didn't really hear much about Singlecut (over here in Jersey) until about mid-2015. Their IPA's were quickly gaining steam and without them distributing in New Jersey, I knew a trip to New York would have to happen in order to try them. A visit was made and all of the beers enticed me greatly, yet left me wanting more. So it was with great anticipation that I waited the past few weeks since Singlecut's announcement that they would now be distributing in New Jersey. Finally, I can begin to have their tasty brews without having to make a trip out of the state.
Little Silver Bottle Shop wasted no time in announcing their first Singlecut delivery - Does Anybody Remember Laughter? A 7.2% ABV IPA, this East Coast IPA has more of a West Coast style to it, but it's delightfully balanced. The malt backbone is present but you get all of that delicious hop flavor that you normally would with an East Coast IPA. The brew isn't overly bitter and not abundantly sweet either. DARL is a very well balanced IPA that you can just sip on over the course of an afternoon. Citrus and pine are the name of the game within this bottle. Overall, this is a very tasty IPA that is welcoming to newcomers and will be sufficient for hop heads looking to try Singlecut for the first time.
I'm glad Singlecut beers will be available in New Jersey now and anyone who doesn't know who they are, DARL is a great introduction to this brewery. Hopefully, another visit to Singlecut will be in my future, but for now, I am perfectly content with them releasing some of their delicious products into the Jersey wild. Salud!
