Cape May Brewing - Snag & Drop
On the back of the can of Cape May Brewing's Snag & Drop, the first three words in the profile are: Dank and resinous. This is no joke! This Triple IPA delivers on exactly those two descriptors of this beer. Without reading the description, the first word that popped into mind was "dank". The nose is reminiscent of citrus and lots of pine. At 10%+ ABV, this beer is an absolute beast! It's boozy up front but starts to mellow out as the can warms up. This brew is an intriguing offering from Cape May since it's quite up there in its ABV but still is approachable. The suggested pairing on the back of the can is: cheese, seafood, and desserts. I can vouch for the seafood pairing, but not so sure I'd pair this with my birthday cake.
I had no idea what to expect from this beer, especially since I've hung around the 5% - 8% range over the past few months, so anything over 10 is automatically boozy for me. Still, this was a sipper and quite enjoyable over the long haul of my drinking experience. The color is a bit darker, but the malts aren't so heavily pronounced. To be honest, this has been one of hte easiest drinking TIPA's I've had in a while. The fruits that come through are in a perfect dance with the bitterness of the hops. With the ever growing catalogue of hoppy releases, I'm now really excited to see what Cape May Brewing has to offer in the form of stouts!
As far as Snag & Drop is concerned, I recommend this beer, especially during the next two months. It's the kind of beer you want to sip when temperatures aren't as cold but still warm enough to enjoy a good IPA. Cape May Brewing, this was delicious. Salud!
