Jamian's Food & Drink - Red Bank, NJ
Jamian's has been a Red Bank staple when it comes to beer, drinks, and food for quite the number of years. It also is one of the few places in Red Bank to have an outside bar and seating area. If you're looking to catch some Vitamin D while enjoying some lunch or dinner or just having a beer - Jamian's is a good bet to put your money on. They are open 7 days a week and on some nights have trivia, live reggae bands, and even football games projected outside in the back.
For this particular visit, we spent some time outside enjoying one of the better spring days, having a few beers and enjoying a few of Jamian's dishes. There's always a regular menu and a specials menu, so for anyone who is a returning patron and wants something new, the specials will not disappoint.
The visit outside brought us to the bar where the sun will shine brightly down on you. As long as the weather is under 80 degrees, you should definitely be good out here in the early afternoon. The bar area has most of the same liquor options but definitely has less taps than the inside bar. The taps that are outside are wisely catering to a more summer-friendly crowd with lighter beers that are crisp and refreshing to have. Even if there are less options outside, you do have the choice to order draft from the inside taps or bottles as well. You'll find anything from a Founder's All Day on tap to a Southern Tier Live to a Carton 077XX. Jamian's has you covered for summer drinking.
Routinely we'll order from either the specials or the regular menu, but on this visit, we did a little bit of both. First came the Pretzel Bun Sliders with Andouille Sausage, caramelized onions, and cheese with a small side of house chips. The buns were great, the sausage was the right kind of spicy and I'm always a fan of the house chips at Jamian's. This is great either as an appetizer for two or as an individual meal.
Jamian's does a standard Chicken Caesar Salad which on its own is pretty good. But we ordered with blackened chicken instead. The blackened chicken here is delicious. The skin is always on point, and the rub is fantastic. Whether it's chicken or fish, I always try to get it blackened at Jamian's. You definitely won't regret it.
In the past, when it has come to ordering pizza, we usually stick with our favorite, the chicken parmesan pizza. This time, we couldn't resist the Applewood Bacon and Ham pizza. The bacon absolutely makes this pizza the winner. I wish the ham were a little more present, but all in all, we really did enjoy this version of a pizza. The bacon is separated into small pieces and cooked perfectly. The ham was diced and I probably would have preferred for it to be a little more present on the pie, but I would definitely order again.
One of my all time favorites at Jamian's - the chicken nachos. Enough to share for 2 or even 3 people, this has gotten better as the years have gone by. The pico de gallo is always fresh, the chicken is seasoned and the cheese sauce is something unique. Most places use shredded cheese which is fine, but the sauce from Jamian's is unlike anything within the local area. Everything comes together beautifully. I remember the chicken being okay, but the seasoned chicken used now elevates this even further. If you're looking to share - look no further than the chicken nachos at Jamian's.
As much as I enjoy going to Jamian's during the warmer days to be outside and have a good beer, I do have to say, I wish they would rotate the taps a little more. I used to see a bit more of a rotation in earlier times switching between beers that match the season even if a few were kept permanently like Keegan Ale's Mother's Milk and Carton 077XX. I don't mind a few of the favorites, but in a day and age when there are more craft beer options, I'd love to see Jamian's expand their rotation a little bit more. Still, the fact remains that if you are looking to be outside, you can't go wrong with options like Southern Tier Live and Founder's All Day.
I have noticed that as time goes on, the food at Jamian's has definitely improved. It was good years ago, but now it is borderline excellent. They've gotten the nachos down to perfection and even their burgers are pretty good. The specials menu is a must and the bar staff as well as the wait staff would be more than happy to tell you which are their favorites.
With limited options in Red Bank to drink and eat outside, Jamian's Food & Drink is a fantastic option for those afternoons and nights when you want to have your beer mixed in with your sunlight. With a menu that has way more hits than misses and a consistent staff, it'll be hard to walk out disappointed when visiting this small town staple. Visit Jamian's Food & Drink because you can work on that tan while sitting at a bar. Visit Jamian's Food & Drink because you want good beer or drinks and elevated bar dishes.
